Complaints, Expulsion and or Suspension Policies for NASA

The primary objective of NASA is to encourage and advance recreational skaters on ice in the province of Alberta while keeping the fun, fitness and friendship components in place during this instructional time.  In keeping with this policy, we wish to provide standards or regulation for the skating activities of its members. 

Some times, members may engage in conduct unbecoming these standards/regulations, and may be suspended or expelled from membership in NASA (or a lesser penalty as deemed appropriate by the NASA Board of Directors (or its delegate)….

This policy applies to any member of NASA-skaters, clubs or coaching members. 

A complaint may be initiated in writing to the Board of Directors showing that a member has committed an offense by:

  • Engaging in conduct that would have a material adverse effect on the sport of recreational skating, or the goodwill and reputation of NASA;
  • Purposefully engaging in continuing breach of the rules or policies set out by NASA;
  • Willfully engaging in conduct which would be a serious and material failure to comply with policies of NASA;
  • Purposefully engaging in conduct which may be considered personal harassment or abuse of power in relation to another NASA member or member club.
  • Conduct including verbal, psychological and physical forms of behavior, demeaning belittling or causing personal humiliation or embarrassment;
  • Where this conduct takes place during the course of a skating activity or between members of NASA outside of the skating environment
  • Penalties for these offences shall be as deemed appropriate or necessary by the Board of Directors of NASA.  This policy has been approved and effective as of August1, 2007.
